Sweett seals hat-trick of nuclear cost consult work 17 August 2012

Sweett Group has secured a hat-trick of nuclear energy deals including cost consultancy on EDF’s £10bn Hinkley Point power station project.

Sweett will provide commercial support services as part of a two and a half-year framework for the construction of Hinkley C.

In another major deal, Babcock International has signed the firm to provide quantity surveying and commercial services on its UK nuclear decommissioning projects, including major works at Sellafield and Berkeley as part of a three-year framework.

The third deal coves Dounreay Site Restoration, where the firm over a four-year period will provide cost estimating services from its offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow on the decommissioning of the site which formerly housed the UK’s centre of fast reactor research and development.

Dean Webster, Sweett Group’s chief executive officer, said: “Investing in growth sectors such as energy infrastructure is one of the key components of our strategy to diversify our UK business.

“Our UK order book has continued to develop positively since the start of the financial year, a clear sign that we are winning greater market share in an increasingly competitive market.”
